Awaken
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
Jack is looking for his sister Layla. Following clues, he soon finds himself in a secluded forest. Before long, it becomes clear that Jack is not alone. And whoever — or whatever — is in there with him has no intention of letting him leave.
Inspired by the works of writers like H. P. Lovecraft and Stephen King, Awaken is a short side scroller horror game with emphasis on environmental storytelling and narrative-driven gameplay.
Playtime is around 30-40 minutes.
The game supports both keyboard and controller inputs (visual cues are based on the Xbox controller layout).
The game is in early access, so some bugs may have slipped past me, but I appreciate your feedback (about bugs, or anything else).

Install instructions
Due to approaching hard deadline and some development delays, I wanted to get the early access available as fast as possible, so I have not as of yet acquired the necessary certificates for Windows and macOS to trust the app. So after downloading, you will need to manually bypass the firewall:
On Windows:
- Double click on the .exe file
- In the "Windows protected your PC" popup, click "More info"
- Click "Run anyway"
On macOS:
- Double click on the .dmg file to open it
- Double click on "Awaken"
- Close the popup
- Open System Settings -> Privacy & Security -> scroll down to Security
- Click "Open"
- Click "Open Anyway"
I apologize for the inconvenience — this will be resolved in the full release.

This game is beautiful! It has a short and sweet story that will leave you wondering once you finish it, solid gameplay, unique characters, and good pacing! Definitely give it a try!
